I created this website because I became hooked on scuba diving in 2019, thanks to Johnathan. He opened up a whole new world to me and once I got my Digital Underwater Photography Certification and investing in the GoPro Hero 5, I began taking pictures and videos to remember our trips and experiences. I’ve always had a flare for creativity with different genres of artwork, so after a few years of diving and taking pictures and videos, I decided it was time to launch this site to share my experiences.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Also, one thing I would love to see, is one of you, my followers, to meet up with us at or on one of our trips so I can share OUR experiences together.
John is on the left in the image to the right and that is me on the right.
By following this site and/or blog, you will see that throughout the year I am adding and updating the images for the dive trips I go on, so I encourage you to keep checking back for these changes. I will share the dates and locations of our travels and I hope you join us and become part of our dive family.
At SEA~ing~Underwater, we believe that photography is not just about capturing a moment, but about telling a story. I strive to create images that evoke emotion and capture the essence of our subjects, whether that being human or other life organisms and species that not everyone gets an opportunity to see up close and personal.
We are recreational scuba divers who also enjoy the hunt for the invasive Lionfish throughout the warm waters south of Florida and through the islands of the Caribbean. Our goal is to share our experiences with the people we dive with, the diving community and those who appreciate the work we put in to create this site.
Our team consists of experienced scuba divers and skilled amateur photographers who specialize in various styles of underwater photography, including recreational videography services for clients who want to capture their adventures on film.
During my dives I use a GoPro Hero 11 Black for pictures and videos. I edit the images using Dive+ and Lightroom along with Photoshop to correct and enhance the images.
The images found here are available in a variety of mediums from wall art, home decor, lifestyle, stationary, tech, apparel, and styles.
The PADI Dive Center here at the Sandals Resort in Ochi has an amazing staff.
This is actually where I got certified and received most of my PADI certifications, in fact all but my NITROX cert. you are welcome PADI, haha, but thank you too.
We have made some great, life long friends with members of the shop and even with guests that we have been diving with. We travel to this resort during the same time every year and there are a handful of other divers that return during the same time as well and we really enjoy the reunion we have year after year.
Some of the photos you will find in the drop down menu of the Jamaica trips will show some of the couples we’ve met… of course they are probably underwater so look in the notes for who might be who.
Hope to see you there and reach out to us and let us know you want to dive with us in Jamaica.
Valet Diving at it’s best
This dive shop is truly one of a kind. The crew on the dive boats, the staff in and around the shop really know how to take care of the guests.
We have been diving with them annually since 2019 and we completed a challenge they have called “The Green Shorts Challenge”. We met people that have been working on the challenge over a very long period of time, as long as 10 years even. But they also only return to the Cayman’s every couple of years and/or only come to dive for a week or a few days. We went for a week at a time the first couple of years but then we started going for two weeks, diving everyday. This helped us attain our goal to diving all 55 sites in a total of 7 weeks of diving. going at different times of the year helps as well, because the shop is on the East End, they have site on both the north and south end of the island, so depending on the time of year with the weather, they may only go north or only go south. We were fortunate to get through all 55 so quick, but that’s not going to stop us from returning every year.
The diving here is a lot of fun and the sites are beautiful. Everything from pinnacles to swim throughs and, diving with reef sharks.
We first came to this beautiful resort in September of 2021. Although we only stayed for a week, we really fell in love with this place.
We went diving on five days, Lionfish hunted four of those days. In those eight dives (two dives each morning) we killed nearly 150 lionfish. Some of the images from that trip you’ll find in the main drop down menu.
While there we also made friends with a few of the staff and follow each other on Facebook. One person in particular is “Bubbles”, aka-Medricka Daniel. John and I happened to be going on a cruise this year (2024) after our trip to Jamaica, and I reached out to Bubbles to set up a private dive as our cruise was going to be docking for the day in St. Lucia. She took us on a two tank dive excursion that was amazing to two different shipwrecks and even did some lionfish hunting.
Thank you again Bubbles, we love and miss you.
Our first Club Med resort and we couldn’t have been happier. The resort had one main restaurant that offered a buffet style dining room that had a different theme to it’s dinner cuisine every night.
There is a sports bar on the property that has some great bar food.
The dive boat that is used is a huge catamaran that can hold comfortably as many as 40 divers.
Images from these dives are uploaded to the drop down menu.
Our second week on this amazing island in the most southern part of the Caribbean. This is also one of the newest properties acquired and transformed into a Sandals property. The variety of restaurants is just as good as the other properties we’ve been to.
The sunset views are like never seen before. They do have a golf course that is available to it’s guests and the views throughout the course are truly one of a kind.
The dive shop is fairly easy to get to and they offer a good sized locker for your gear when not diving. If you like a good drift dive, I suggest that you take up the offer to go to Little Curaçao, and dive the south side of the small island.
This resort is not all inclusive nor is it adult only, but we loved staying here. The apartment we had was 2 bedroom, 2 full baths, had a full kitchen and being a ground floor corner unit, we were able to open up the whole corner living room area with folding french doors.
With thew full kitchen, we bought groceries and beverages for lunches and snacks, we were gone pretty early every morning to go diving so we didn’t need anything for breakfast and we ate out somewhere different every night for dinner. If we didn’t eat at the resort, we were close enough to a wide range cuisines of other restaurants that we walked everywhere, even to a couple of the casino’s.
This dive shop is in a great location, right at Lions Dive Resort.
With three dive boats, it seemed that they had plenty of room for anyone wanting to dive, whether they were guests of the resort or staying elsewhere. We were able to hunt Lionfish and upon returning to the shop, we cleaned up the fish and gave our kills to the crew.
Click the drop down menu for the Curaçao tab to see more about the dives we had gone on.
Thank you to the dive crew, Captain Jeremy and our guide Ian.
Ian met us at the docks where our cruise ship tied off here in St. Thomas and took us over to the arena of the docks where the dive boat was waiting for us and others from another cruise ship. We learned so much about this area and the dive site we went to, how the shipwreck was once rumored to be a drunk smuggling ship. You should check it out if you ever make to St. Thomas or copy the link below to read up on it.

Of course there are other websites with information on the wreck, but this one I found quite interesting.
Thank you

If you happen to find yourself in North Carolina and want to go diving for Megaloden teeth, just tell Steve that I sent you. Now in all honesty it may not get you any sort of discount, but I might get one, haha.
Seriously, this guy knows his stuff and I am already looking at going out on some dives with him and his crew.
This is PADI's bold mission. As the world's largest diving organization, we have a tremendous opportunity to mobilize people to engage in solution-based initiatives geared towards a more sustainable future for all.
How can you help?
This treaty could include both mandatory and voluntary approaches, addressing the full life cycle of plastic, including many of the common items found in PADI AWARE’s marine debris program. For example, key Dive Against Debris® findings globally have proven that almost 70 percent of all items reported were plastics.
I didn’t want to sit back and not let my voice be heard. if you ask most of those who have known me for years, I’ll be the one walking out to pick up that bottle or trash floating just out from the beach and what I find along the beach or even on the city streets.
I’ve said for years, even before i became a diver, that if everyone just stoped and picked up one piece of trash where they stand once a day, the planet would become so much cleaner.
Our mission to ‘Drive local action for global ocean conservation’ is carried out through citizen science, public policy, and community grants. For over 30 years, PADI and AWARE have built a truly unique voice for the protection of the underwater world. Together, we have set ambitious ocean conservation targets through a shared Blueprint for Ocean Action that provides the framework to tackle key threats to the ocean and create ocean change in our dive communities around the world. When we travel to the Caribbean, we usually go hunting for Lionfish and we typically take our own Zoo Keeper that we bought from LionfishZK.com. We have also left one of these at a few of the dive shops we’ve been to and in return trips we have brought back additional replacement funnels because we are well aware of how they can wear out or get damaged. getting replacement parts to some of the island countries we go to can be a real challenge for the dive shops, so we try to help out in a multitude of ways, this just being one of them.
The people at lionfishzk.com have always been so friendly and we have received everything we have bought from in so much faster than we expected, we are grateful to that because not all people/companies are so quick to respond or ship products.

One of the best pieces of advice I have ever gotten as a scuba diver is, get DAN insurance, especially if you are hunting Lionfish.
Now I did get this information when I initially got certified, but I was like so many others and figured…”what could go wrong”. Turned out I did need to go to the ER while in the Caymans after getting 4 Lionfish spines in my right hand along my thumb. The reason for the ER was because there was concerns for the possibility of one breaking off in knuckle and if so, it needed tended to. Fortunately none did break off, and I got a good dose of pain meds. I still played golf the next day although my hand was still quite swollen, but also no longer in pain. That bill came to nearly $800 and were just fortunate to have had travel insurance but not through DAN and we still lucky to have had the bill covered 100%.
After our return home though we did get DAN insurance and never looked back. Have not needed it, but knowing it’s at our disposal gives us piece of mind.
We found these lights by Big Blue and this is our second set. The first one’s we had were 8000 lumens and they were fantastic.
These new ones, with 9000 lumens with LED bulbs really light up the ocean floor when we use the flood option during night dives.
These also fit on the back of our hand so our fingers are still free to manipulate whatever comes up.

Dive+ is an absolutely user friendly app that I’ve been using for about 5 years now. It restores the white balance that is lost in underwater photography and videography.
I hope you like the corrections I’ve made in this gallery of images.

I began diving using the GoPro Hero 5 Black and never really had any issues with it, some of what your are seeing is from using that camera.
Then I upgraded to the Hero 11 Black before our troop to Curacao last September. The images come out great on either devise, but what I have done a few times, is use the Hero 5 on my dive mask and the Hero 11 on my spear gun.
Either way, i love these cameras and they are very user friendly.
After using the traditional Hawaiian Sling and other types of spears or spearguns to hunt lionfish, we found this Lionfish-Slayer and never looked back.
This “modified” version of the hawaiian sling is much safer than the hawaiian sling or pretty much any other speargun because the tip of the spear is encased in the tubing and it is locked in until the diver is ready to arm it. Then with the flip of the thumb to release the lock, the spear can be armed and would still be safe until the diver releases the lock.
Accidents can happen of course, but in the four years we’ve been using this specific spear, we have had no injuries.
