We spent a week here in Cozumel, stayed at the Coral Princess Hotel (https://www.coralprincess.com/).
Now just a word of advise, go shopping when you get to the island, pick up some bottled water to use for coffee, cooking, ice trays in the freezer, even brushing your teeth or whatever else, because you do not want to drink the water here. It isn’t much different at any other hotels or resorts.
we went diving with a great dive shop called Pepe Scuba (http://www.pepescuba.com/).
The shop was operated by a man named Frank who took over the dive shop after his wife bought it, because as an American, he’s not allowed to own the business, so we were told anyway. Our last day of diving, only because the weather had turned bad and not a single shop was out diving, we went more north to do a drift dive (more accurately, all of our dives were drift dives) but this one was so much faster. Our captain and guide said the current was approximately 3-4 mph and I have to say, it was like flying… even after I got stung by a rather large Lionfish. You’ll see how swelled up my hand had gotten from returning to the boat after the dive to about an hour later when the swelling got worse. And, that was not even the worst part of the swelling, it went up to my shoulder… (mental note…. Quit getting stung by Lionfish, lol)
Our guide took some time out of our dive to do some repairs to this signage of ”COZUMEL”.
This majestic ray was cruising right along against the current. There was no way we were going to get any closer for any better shots.
As I was just floating with the current, I looked down and saw this conch just trying to get from one reef to the next….I think, lol
Yes, I know. Operator error. I didn’t realize it until post that I had the time lapse setting set on my GoPro. I’ve been more careful after this incident, lol
I noticed these hermit crab shells moving ever so slightly so I held my camera on them for a few to watch.
If you have never been diving in Cozumel, here’s a great example of how strong the current is. John tried his best to stay in one position for me to get him and the Sea Turtle in this shot.
